Volkswagen Crafter and Amarok Facelift

Added: 04 February 2016

Last year Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles sold a whopping 47,739 vehicles, a 7.8% improvement compared year on year with 2014, thus giving it second place in the UK LCV market with an 11.6% market share and now plans to refresh further models in its commercial range by next year.

The success came in line with the launches of the uplifted Caddy and Transporter models and infact the popularity of the new Caddy has even resulted in additional 1.2 and 1.4 TSI petrol engines being added to the range which weren’t originally earmarked to be in order to cater to customers who weren’t looking for a new Caddy for business purposes as stated by VW Commercial Vehicles UK brand director Carl Zu Dohna; "we've added the petrol engine to the Caddy range for customers in cities who don't need a diesel and for buyers of wheelchair accessible versions of the Caddy who also usually cover smaller mileages in town."

With the Caddy and Transporter already getting their make overs it’s time to put the Crafter and Amarok models into the spotlight. A facelifted Amarok pick-up is set to be available towards the end of this year and the new Crafter is looking to make its debut in Germany at the IAA commercial vehicle show in Hanover during September with the likelihood of being available to purchase during next year.

The all new Crafter is set to be built over in the new Volkswagen factory in Wrzesnia in Poland and will now be produced alongside another new heavy duty panel van from the VW group brand opposed to the Mercedes Sprinter it currently shares a production line with for the existing Crafter model.

As well as refreshing the existing model line-up there could be exciting updates down the line with future hybrid vans a possibility at some point with hybrid powertrains having already been tested in Caddy prototypes. It’s exciting times for the Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles range so keep your eyes peeled for the latest updates on the new facelifted models.
